Stormy Weather
Hello families,
It’s been a stormy stretch of weather, but if there’s one thing you can count on in New England, it’s the rapid‑fire shift from one extreme to another. I’ve reached the point where looking out my window to decide what coat to wear leaves me more bewildered than informed. In the span of a single minute, I can spot someone in a hoodie, a fur‑lined coat, a rain jacket, and shorts — all headed in different directions, all apparently correct.
Well, if you can’t count on the weather, you can count on something cheerful: Sunday, October 18th is Chocolate Cupcake Day.
A perfect excuse to whip up a batch — or, far more sensibly, grab one from the local supermarket — and as you savor that cocoa moment, flip through the brochure for our fall fundraiser. Whether you’re hunting for a hostess gift, a treat for yourself, or candy to stash away for later, it’s all in there.
Sign up soon — the fundraiser runs until October 30th, and we don’t want you to miss out.

We’re still accepting School Council nominations, so if you’ve been thinking, “Hmm… maybe I should throw my hat in,” you absolutely still can — nominations stay open through Wednesday 14th October.
Voting starts Friday 16th October. You’ll get a simple form with all the nominees listed, and you can cast your ballot anytime from Friday straight through the end of October. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it genuinely helps shape the work we do for our school community. Here's the nomination form which are available in the following translations:Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Haitian, Spanish
We’re excited to launch Coffee, Council & Chat — a relaxed space for families to connect with the parent representatives on the School Council. Join us in person for a cup of coffee and conversation, or hop into our virtual option if that’s easier for your schedule.
It’s an open opportunity to share what’s on your mind, ask questions, and let us know how the School Council can support you and your child this year. Come for the chat, stay for the community — we’d love to see you, wherever you join from.
We will have our first meet up: Tuesday Oct 20th 5.30-6.30pm Valente Library.
